TOM SANDERS
Production-Ready Animatics
for TV and Film Animation
I'm not a flashy editor. I deliver tight, production-ready TV animatics -- on time and without fuss.
The collaborative culture between showrunners, directors, artists and editors powers success in animation. As an editor who cut his teeth on low-budget features, managing editorial from pre-production through post, I'm ready and able to wear multiple hats: from searching and editing music and SFX, to placing temp and production dialogue, to creating final animatics ready for production.
In previous roles, I have:
✔ Created final animatics that establish episode pacing and tone.
✔ Searched and edited temp music and SFX and placed dialogue in support of
narrative clarity.
✔ Led screenings and incorporated feedback to refine and elevate storytelling.
✔ Worked extensively in Avid Media Composer.
If you need an editor who can jump in on Day 1 and create high quality animatics with limited resources and without hand-holding from your director -

Tom is a real pleasure to work with. He’s an excellent and open minded collaborator, intuitive and gifted with his timing, and brings a lot of sensitivity and awareness to the material. He knows story and writing, and it benefits his storytelling in editing."

ABOUT ME

From the moment my father put a super-8 camera in my hands at the age of 12, I knew I wanted to make movies. At first, I imagined that meant being a director...
But the place I always felt most at home was in the editing room.
Arriving in LA after college, I wrote scripts, landed an agent, and thought I'd be a writer. Then I launched a company to make movie trailers... and I was back in the editing room.An opportunity to direct a documentary for a non-profit led to full-time work as an Avid editor (and occasional director), which I did for six years.Nights and weekends, I edited low-budget dramatic features. In 2000, I co-created one of the internet's first web series, a micro-budget fantasy/ adventure
with lots of green screen, CGI and a few harrowing stunts. As a first-time director, my confidence came from knowing I could pull it all together in the editing room. The web series led me to a team making their first animated feature. The director liked my work on their animatic enough to bring me onto his next several films...And I've been fortunate to work pretty steadily ever since. The kid with the super-8 camera got to live some of his dreams, and he's grateful for it!
